Richard Hammond critically injured

Richard Hammond, host of the BBC's Top Gear has been critically injured while trying to break the British land speed record in a jet powered car. Reaching speeds of approximately 450km/h (~300mph), apparently they were near the end of the days trials when the car veered to the right and crashed.

Richard was rushed unconscious to the Leeds hospital via air ambulance.

See here for the full story on the BBC website.

And here for something a little more candid. "Bad jet-car, bad!"
