Mt Anne - "one helluva day walk"
So they actually say this is a day walk.... hmmm, maybe if you didn't bring a pack full of gear.... as it was Gail and I had ALL our bushwalking gear as we planned on staying a night in the hut, but thought we should take the tent incase there were too many people. Killer of a 2.5 hour walk basically straight up hill to the hut in the blaring Tassie sun (read approx 25 degrees, no clouds, LOT'S of UV!!). Shame about the smokey haze... bloody Victorians and their bushfires!!
Forboding warning to start the walk
Our first rest after climbing the first steep section - also turned out to be one of the steepest for the entire walk (bar the scree ascention on both Mt Eliza and Mt Anne)
Almost Lord of the Rings country here
The scree climb on Mt Eliza - go gailo go
We've climbed HOW FAR?? Lake Pedder in the background
Cushion plant - careful of these fragile beauties
Tarns of water sitting up on the cliff edge
The destination, Mt Anne from the saddle below
The scary semi-climb bit - anyone got a rope?
Finally there, looking back over Lightening Ridge
From the hut, the sun sets over Lake Pedder
The next morning, walking out the smokey haze had cleared somewhat - Mt Anne on the left, Mt Eliza on the right... and yes, Mt Anne is higher
The pain and suffering (blisters, jarred knees and strained muscles) lasted a week, but the photo's will last forever... and hopefully the memories will too.
I CLIMBED MT. ANNE - That's something I will take with me wherever I go.
